Revlon Colorbust lipgloss in Papaya: A review

Hey there!

So as you may or may not know (!)- I'm a lipstick girl through and through, lip glosses aren't really my cup of tea at all. Except for the Revlon Colorbust Lipglosses.

Revlon Colorbust lip gloss in Papaya.

See the reason I just don't get on with lip gloss is that they're just too sticky and 'wet' feeling (what a gross way to put it-sorry!).
However, these Revlon ones are anything but sticky and feel very light on the lips.

The packaging is quite classy and the doe foot applicator does the job well...Now lets move on to the best thing about this lip gloss- the colour. A bright reddish orange that packs a punch- it's so pigmented.
To be quite honest I bought this just based on the colour alone. I already owned another colour (Sunbaked) so knew the formula and all wouldn't disappoint.
Anyhow, even though it is a lip gloss, it sticks around (see what I did there?!) for some time and fades quite nicely.

Methinks I need a few more colours from this range...

Reflections #5: An autumn wishlist

12 - 3 - 4 - 5 -  6 - 7

Hey there!

Now that autumn is in the air- it's the perfect excuse to add a 'few' more items to my wishlist, because new season / new..stuff and all that.

First up- jumpers, oh how I love big, snuggly jumpers. The ones I've picked here are both from New Look, they have the nicest selection but these two caught my eye due to the pretty detailing which you can see clearer on the actual website: 1 // 5 //

Another autumn 'necessity' is a candle- my favourite from last autumn/winter was Yankee Candle's Mandarin and Cranberry // 4 //. Though candles aren't restricted to the cold season- I appreciate the way they make a room look all kinds of cosy when you're all frozen back from uni/work etc. This particular one smells warm with a hint of fruit (if I remember correctly that is!)

These boots  //2//  from H&M  make my heart sing I tell you! Not only are they ankle boots and have no heels (I am rather tall) they are also a beautiful dark purple colour and quite honestly I love everything about them!

Something else that is from New Look and drew me because of the detailing and colour, is this Tan Clutch bag //3 //. Whether it is autumn appropriate or not- it is rather exquisite and I really like the envelope style.

This Illamasqua blusher in Sleek  // 6 // is  coral which I feel says it all really! And it was released as part of an autumn/fall collection- so it's perfectly justified- somehow!

Finally, of the many, many books I want to own- this collection // 7 // the Books of Pellinor by Alison Croggon is at the moment at number one. I have read the first book, The Gift and am now on The Riddle. My oh my is it well written and bloody gripping! It reminds me a little of the Harry Potter books and oddly enough Lord of the Rings (on account of the fact that it is a whole world) but at the same time it is nothing like them-anyhow so far it is fantastic and I don't want to give anything away as I intend to write a review on them.

                                                      So what's on your wishlist?
                                                                       Ta ta for now!

Reflections #4: Niqab Ban

Hey there!

So a college intended to ban the niqab. For those of you who may not know what the niqab is- it looks a little like this:

This was the campaign poster as well I think.

Thing is, I don't even wear the niqab or the veil- I have my own personal opinions on it but my problem with this whole debacle is- why was this even up for discussion? This is obviously not the first time that what some women want to wear was dictated by the law- France comes to mind as they have banned the veil.

Though the college backtracked quite quickly on the policy, it is something to think about. Firstly I should point out that in colleges few people wear the veil. It is not very common. If someone chooses to cover her face, she is not a threat to anybody as this is the commonly touted spiel.
Secondly, in most workplaces such as in schools and so forth, women tend to take off their niqab when working so it does not get in the way of 'social interaction' and all that malarkey.
The most important and overriding fact however is; this is a choice, somebody chose to do this for religious and/or personal reasons, thus by preventing them from doing so for no clear reason their right is being taken away.

Twitter #eh?

Hey there!

Image
See I just don't get Twitter. Now don't get me wrong I simply mean- how is it supposed to be used? I've tried to use it several times but it doesn't seem to come natural to me- tweeting.
Is it supposed to record your thoughts? My thoughts tend to ramble on forever- more than the 140 characters.
How is one witty & intelligent in such a small number of words for that matter?

Side note- I feel like this post paints me as someone from the dark ages with no understanding of social media- well to be frank yup I fit the bill. Seems the older I get the less I feel I have to say on things like Facebook and Twitter- bar interacting with people, I rarely share my own thoughts and stuff. Simply because it just doesn't occur to me to Facebook this or Tweet that (hey at least I 'get' the lingo!).The odd times I use Twitter is to share a post I've written or retweet something.

The point of this drivel is - what makes someone think 'hey let me tweet this/facebook this/share this' or I am over thinking the whole process?

Your thoughts?

Ta ta for now!

P.s. My twitter, for anyone who cares, is here *shameless plug*

Reflections #3: Writer's Block and Tips to overcome it

WeHeartit

I know, I know- it's a little cliché isn't it- writer's block. But as you lovely fellows probably know, it's all too real. For example, when you have a rather important essay due and you just sit and stare blankly at an empty document and the only thought that is clear in your head is 'Oh God, I've forgotten how to essay, what is wrong with me, who am I?'
Okay it's probably not that bad but still- it can be proper daunting!

Recently, all I seemed to be doing was staring at a depressingly empty page without a single idea about what to write. There's nothing like lack of creativity to make me feel all kinds of incompetent.

Nevertheless! I have found a few things that work for me to get the 'creative juices flowing' (that sounds a bit urgh eh!) and be more productive.

1. The main thing is not to compare yourself to others. Comparing your writing to someone else's and looking for inspiration are two very different things. Comparing yourself can make you feel inadequate and put you off writing.

2. Another thing is not to put pressure on yourself. If you expect to write masterpieces the moment you put pen to paper, it could put you off from the actual act of writing.

3. It might seem odd, but write anything. It doesn't have to be excellent and all that, just make sentences, create (and I repeat) anything that doesn't require much thinking.

4. Lastly, don't force it. Trust me even if the deadline is looming dangerously and you are sitting there on the verge of tears and no ideas are coming, the best thing to do is just close the blasted laptop and take a break- leave the area you're working in and take a walk or something. This tends to works for me every time.

What things do you do to overcome writer's block?

Ta ta for now!

Some news ^.^

Hey there!

So I recently decided to merge both of my blogs. While this blog was beauty focused my other blog was a place for me to sort of record my thoughts but I've been finding a tad hard going - so to make it easier I've decided to simply have one blog that is something of a lifestyle blog, with a bit of everything.

You can read some of my musings from my other blog here- if you feel so inclined that is J
